Explanation of the Heat Treatment Process for Fastener Manufacturing – Annealing
As a hardware processing manufacturer, there are many different processing techniques for parts and components. Some require electroplating or oxidation, while others necessitate processes such as annealing, heat treatment, passivation, and various other post-processing steps. Many customers who come to purchase our products find it difficult to distinguish between their own processing standards. Below, let me explain what annealing and heat treatment entail:
As a hardware processing manufacturer, there are many different processing techniques for parts and components. Some require electroplating or oxidation, while others necessitate various post-processing steps such as annealing, heat treatment, and passivation. Many customers who come to purchase our products often find it difficult to distinguish between their own processing standards. Next, let me explain annealing in detail. What is heat treatment?
Annealing involves heating the workpiece to an appropriate temperature, holding it at that temperature for a duration that varies depending on the material and the size of the workpiece, and then allowing it to cool slowly. The purpose of this process is to bring the internal microstructure of the metal to or near an equilibrium state, thereby achieving excellent machinability. It can enhance mechanical properties or prepare the microstructure for further quenching. Normalizing involves heating the workpiece to an appropriate temperature and then cooling it in air. The effect of normalizing is similar to that of annealing, except that the resulting microstructure is finer. It is often used to improve the material’s properties. Cutting performance is also sometimes used as the final heat treatment for parts with relatively low requirements.
